Warwick University students choose YMCA Coventry and Warwickshire

February 3, 2017

We’re proud to announce that we have been chosen by Warwick RAG (Raising and Giving) as their RAG Week charity of the year.

Every year the student-led group arrange a week-long fundraiser for their chosen charity. Patrick Lavery, President of Warwick RAG commented: “We have chosen to support YMCA during our RAG Week as we believe homelessness is a huge problem in the Coventry and Warwickshire area. We all have a part to play in breaking down stigma around homelessness and contributing to help those in this vulnerable situation. We hope to work with YMCA Coventry and Warwickshire during our RAG Week to help raise funds and awareness on campus of this growing problem.”

A host of events will take place next week including a student showing of ‘Pursuit of Happyness’, Musical Bingo, Pie in the face, Disco soup, a bar crawl, a Homelessness debate and a second sponsored Sleep Easy to take place on campus.

Lisa Carroll, Fundraising Manager at YMCA Coventry and Warwickshire added: “We are delighted to have been chosen by Warwick RAG as their charity partner this year. This is a fantastic opportunity for young people to make a direct impact on the lives of other young people within the community. It’s been a pleasure to work with the RAG Week Committee and I wish them every success in their fundraising efforts”.
