Christmas can be a lonely time for young people living in supported housing, which is why we are asking for your help with our Christmas appeal.
Last year, we provided 21,900 safe night’s sleep in our accommodation in Coventry and Rugby, for young people who would otherwise be homeless. Our appeal is your chance to donate a small gift or some festive buffet food to benefit our young residents.
This year, responding to requests from residents we will not be putting on a formal Christmas meal but will instead focus our efforts around a series of festive buffets. Over recent years’ expectations have changed as a large number of residents receive invitations to a friends’ house for Christmas dinner. Beyond this though, the festive season, particularly the days between Boxing Day and New Year’s Day, are when the isolation really seems to set in, as invitation from friends dry up and there is often no family to visit.
We need donations of food items such as salads, pizzas, cold meats, fresh bread, cakes and soft drinks. Our Christmas parties for residents take place from 17th December and all food donated will be also be made available for those staying at YMCA over the Christmas period.
Additionally, we are seeking donations of Christmas gifts, to the value of £5 each, unwrapped (or in an unsealed gift bag) to ensure that each of the 60 young people, and 9 dependent children, in our care gets a gift this Christmas.
If you are able to assist with a festive contribution it really will be appreciated. Email Lisa Carroll on email@example.com to arrange to drop it to us.
