Alan Fraser, Chief Executive

Alan Fraser was raised and educated in the Handsworth area of Birmingham. After studying History and Philosophy at Leeds University he returned to Birmingham where he has lived ever since. He has worked in and around the fields of housing and homelessness for 25 years, the last 16 of which have been as a Chief Executive within the YMCA federation. Since October 2005 he has been Chief Executive of YMCA Birmingham. In 2015 and 2016 YMCA Birmingham was runner-up in the YMCA of the Year competition. In April 2018 he also became chief executive of YMCA Coventry & Warwickshire.

Alan is regular commentator on social housing issues and has written articles that have appeared in The Guardian, Inside Housing, 24Housing, The Local Government Chronicle and Municipal Journal amongst others. He blogs at http://ymcabirmingham.org.uk/blog/. Alan is also an ordained Anglican priest, an award-winning playwright, an aspiring novelist, a failed rock star, a husband, and a father to two boys.

Francis Healy  Interim Director of Housing

Fran has worked in social housing for over 35 years in both Local Authorities and Housing Associations. Fran is a member of the Chartered Institute of Housing and is passionate about the quality provision of social housing and particularly in working to address homelessness in all its forms and social injustice. Fran is married, lives in Birmingham and is a long suffering Birmingham City season ticket holder.

Jennie Evans, Co Director of Communications and Fundraising

Jennie has over 18 years of Marketing experience and has previously worked at Rolls-Royce plc, Coventry and Warwickshire Chamber of Commerce and the British Red Cross to name a few. Jennie’s role at YMCA Coventry and Warwickshire spans all of the Communications activity including website, social media and internal communications. She sees one of the biggest challenges as trying to get people’s understanding of YMCA and the work we do, to match their recognition of our name from THAT song!

Lisa Carroll, Co Director of Communications and Fundraising

Lisa has 9 year’s experience within this sector, working within Fundraising and Marketing roles. Previously she worked as a photographer for a regional daily paper.  Lisa’s role at YMCA Coventry and Warwickshire is to co-ordinate and deliver grant funding applications and develop an annual calendar of fundraising events. She is married with 3 young children and an ever-increasing array of pets.
