Our Board of Trustees, have a collective interest in the work we do and use their experience to help direct our work and to achieve our aims. They provide the strategic guidance we need to ensure that our Association is running well and is doing what it should.
Jonathan Grant, Chair of Trustees
Jonathan has served as a Trustee since 2010 and became Chair in 2017. He is Global Chief Operating Officer for HSBC Retail and Private Bank Regulatory Compliance Department, and has a Masters in Law, is a Chartered Certified Accountant, and more than a decade of experience in finance, HR, risk, projects and operations roles at The Bank of England, HSBC and UBS.
Anne Linsey, Joint Vice-Chair of Trustees
Anne has been involved with the YMCA for over 30 years and joined the Board in 2015. She was a staff member at YMCA Training from 1981 and the CEO of YMCA Training from 1994 to July 2014. During her YMCA career Anne participated locally, regionally and internationally to support and promote YMCA activity and developments. Anne remains involved with the YMCA in a voluntary capacity as a Trustee of Coventry and Warwickshire YMCA and a Director of the YMCA Pension Plan Trustee Ltd. Anne is currently a volunteer with Citizens Advice North Oxfordshire and South Northants. In the past Anne served as a Primary School Governor, a member of the local Parochial Church Council and has held a number of other voluntary and public appointments during her career including being a board member of ERSA (the Employment Related Services Association) and serving on the Northamptonshire Learning and Skills Council for six years. She has also contributed to numerous working and advisory groups in the employment and skills sectors.
Bill Parkinson, Joint Vice-Chair of Trustees
Bill joined the Board in the spring of 2010. After being born and brought up in a Durham mining town Bill came to Coventry to train as a teacher and on completing his teacher training he worked in Coventry primary schools for over forty years. During his career he held a variety of posts which culminated in being a head teacher. Working with children, giving them opportunities and the confidence to learn and develop academic, social and life skills was a rewarding privilege. On his retirement Bill became a School Governor, a hospital volunteer and began his involvement with the YMCA as a trustee. Being a Trustee has allowed him to see the transforming influence the organisation can have on the lives of young people who often have little other support.
Anne Woodley, Trustee
Anne joined the Board in the spring of 2010. Anne has worked with the public sector, including residential care for young people. She has delivered administration of work with children and young people both through working within local schools and also working with the early years team at Warwickshire County Council with experience of special needs, safeguarding, fostering, and the mechanisms to support vulnerable people. Anne has experience of working with budgets, submitting grant bids, liaising with people at all levels and is an active member of her local church.
David McKernan, Trustee
David joined the board in the autumn of 2016. He brings with him both personal experience of the many obstacles facing today’s young people and over 5 years’ experience within the voluntary sector. Before joining the board, David was a senior manager for a project that provided warmth, food, and shelter to disadvantaged people from the Coventry area over the Christmas period.
David has a keen interest in empowering young people to achieve and enabling them to realise their full potential, irrespective of background or circumstance. He joined the board looking for the opportunity to help serve the wider community of Coventry and Warwickshire and believes that his role as a Trustee will allow him to better see the transformation that the work of the YMCA brings about in young people’s lives. David is currently completing his BA in Business Management at Coventry University and will graduate in 2017.
Rebecca Fahy, Trustee
Rebecca joined the board in January 2018. Rebecca is an experienced Managing Director and Business Owner, with a degree in Graphic Design, a Masters Degree in Business and qualifications in Business Coaching & Mentoring, and Workplace Psychology. Rebecca worked in a marketing company for 12 years, developing client relationships, new products and managing projects for a wide range of sectors. In 2007, she established, Jigsaw CCS, a company specialising in a creative direct mail and specialist hand fulfilment. After successfully running the business for 11 years, in 2018 Rebecca sold the company to focus her creative strengths on a new venture and started New Dawn Creative – providing creative consultancy, marketing and design to local SME businesses across the UK.
